Eric Kerry has been re-elected by Notts County Supporters Trust members as a Supporter-Director on the Board of the oldest Football League Club in the world.
In the same ballot, 90% of voting members ratified the Trust Board’s decision taken last September to appoint Peter Dennis and John Armstrong-Holmes as Directors of the Club.
The overall turnout in the ballot was 57% with a total of 556 ballot papers returned.
For the ballot for the appointment if a supporter director, the votes were cast as follows:
Eric KERRY 255
Glenn ROLLEY 178
Paul WHITBY 100
Incorrectly submitted 18
Received after deadline 5
TOTAL 556
For the ballot to ratify the decision to appoint Peter Dennis & John Armstrong-Holmes to the Club Board, the votes were cast as follows:
FOR the appointment 496 90% of all votes counted
AGAINST 43
Incorrectly submitted 12
Received after deadline 5
TOTAL 556
Only a handful of Trusts elect Supporter Directors by means of a ballot of their membership. All Notts County Supporters Trust members who were paid-up and aged 16 years or over on 31st May 2008 were able to take part in this ballot.
Trust Vice-Chair, Nigel King says:
“I’d like to congratulate Eric, Peter and John and also thank the unsuccessful candidates for making this such a marvellous exercise in Supporters Trust democracy”.
“Not only did we have a great turn-out, but we also had three excellent candidates for the Supporter-Director election who would be the envy of any Trust”.
“I’m also pleased with the overwhelming ratification of Peter and John which ensures continuity in our efforts to take the Club forward”.
“I’d also like to express my thanks to Phil Tooley from Chesterfield Trust for leading the elections process as Returning Officer so effectively once again”.
“It’s this kind of democracy in action that underpins Notts County Supporters Trust where fans can really have their say on how our Club moves forward. I look forward to equally successfully elections of Trust members to the Club Board of Directors next year and in the years to come”.
