Representatives of the Notts County Supporters Trust board today met with members of the Nottingham Evening Post editorial/sports team to discuss ways in which the two parties can work together more effectively to provide information to supporters.

Present at the meeting were Deputy Editor Marc Astley, new Sports Editor Dave Parkinson and Notts County correspondent Paul Taylor. Following productive discussions, they agreed to support the Trust in a number of ways.

In the immediate term, the NEP will be running a campaign, counting down to the crucial meeting at the Football League on September 8th. It is hoped this will raise awareness amongst readers of the current plight of our football club.

Dave Parkinson also agreed to print an open letter from the NCST board early next week, which will highlight the importance of the club’s role in the local community and in short, what the club means to the people of Nottinghamshire.

In the medium to long-term, it was also agreed that the Trust would be given a regular column in the newspaper to help inform supporters of Trust activities, future events etc.

Trust board members also highlighted the organisation’s aims of strengthening links between Notts County Football Club, supporters and the local community, emphasising in particular the excellent work of the Football in the Community team, which is widely regarded as one of the best nationally. Both the Trust and the NEP agreed to look at ways in which the latter could be better publicised.

Overall, it was a productive meeting and we would like to express our thanks to Marc Astley, Dave Parkinson and Paul Taylor for their cooperation and we look forward to building an effective partnership.

Regards,

David Hindley
Interim Chair
