At beginning of Wednesday’s Trust Board meeting, one member Mike Scott was subject to disciplinary investigation on account of action detrimental to the interests of the Society. This relates to an un-authorised statement to the Nottingham Evening Post (printed 25th February 2009), and walking out of Trust Board meeting on 5th March 2009 having proposed a motion that had been duly seconded. The Trust Board considered these actions very damaging to the Trust and Club in which it is a major shareholder. The Board voted to suspend Mike Scott for a period of four months.

In addition to this the Board also considered that Mike Scott had now failed to attend three consecutive meetings without good cause. These meetings were on 23rd March, 26th March and 1st April. The Trust Board takes non-participation by members very seriously, and was compelled under Trust rule 63a to vote on the matter. The Trust Board has voted that Mike Scott vacate the office Society Board member with immediate effect.

And as Cher puts what about JAH - "Given that the Trust Board has seen fit to remove Mike Scott from the board for missing three meetings, could you confirm what action will be taken against John Armstrong Homes for missing meetings in July 08, September 08, October 08, December 08 and January 09?"

Is it correct Nigel that one of the three meetings Mike was removed from the trust board for not attending, did not even take place?

It is good to see that every dot and every 't' is being crossed with regards applying the Society Rules.

Can I take it that the ruling "seven clear days’ notice of the date and place of each meeting is to be given in writing to their registered e-mail address by the Secretary to all members of the Society Board to the Chief Executive and to such other members of the Executive Board as the Society Board desire to attend the meeting" was properly upheld?

Given the proximity of the meetings - 23rd, 26th March and 1st April - it would be good to get this clarified. I would also point you to the directive that "a Society Board meeting may be called by shorter notice if it is so agreed by all the Society Board members entitled to attend and vote at the meeting."

So is it safe to assume that Mike agreed to attend these three meetings in advance but then failed to give a reasonable explanation for his absence?

Or is about interpreting the rules however you see fit to punish individuals who spoke publically about the Trust Board's collective failure to hold the Supporter Directors to account?

mike scott is part of this rebel click he didn't goto these meeting because his friends was not there that why he was remove from the trust board.

you lot are just causing trouble that notts do not need.... if notts go down hill you lot will be blame for it & that is fact!!!

Instead of asking questions and getting a predictable, straight bat response from one of JAH's apologists, why don't the people who have (quite clearly) been wronged take it up with Supporters Direct, the Trust’s government funded governing body. SD do seem to have sided rather with JAH, but clearly some rules are being broken and others abused by the faction which has clung onto power.

Maybe Supporters Direct would 'benefit' from a few stories of their involvement appearing in the press. That might focus their minds on the issues in hand with greater clarity. Just a thought, although it is possible that they are corrupt too, maybe they just take their grant money and look the other way, or maybe the whole Trust concept is rotten to the core even at national level. Who knows, but it’s worth a try, surely.

For the benefit of non-Trust board ex-members, the contact for SD is:

Rule 63 a is very specific. It talks in terms of three consecutive Society Board Meetings. I have checked the information given and no three of the meetings are consecutive.

"Rule 63. Any member of the Society Board who:
a. fails without good cause to attend 3 consecutive Society Board meetings; or
b. fails without good cause to participate in board training
is to vacate the office of Society Board member if required to do so by a majority of the other Society Board members."

Dave, notice of the meeting of 23rd March went out on the 15th March. That for the 26th March went out on the 18th March and that for the 1st April went out on 24th March, all giving the 7 clear days. The meetings were close together but they had been anticipated. In fact the middle one was called by two Board Members as a Special Board Meeting.

There was no question, therefore, of having to invoke the "shorter notice" procedure where all Board Members need to agree.
