Notts County Supporters Trust played an active role at the Wrexham game to promote Kick it Out's national Week of Action (18th - 30th October).
'One Game, One Community' is one of the most prominent anti-racism and community engagement initiatives in the country. With 1,000 events at every level of the game, the campaign celebrates the contribution made to football by black, Asian and other ethnic minorities, whilst continuing the call to challenge racism.
In the build-up to kick off, volunteers from the Supporters Trust handed out Kick Racism Out of Football badges, key-rings and educational materials, whilst the players did their bit to raise awareness of the campaign by wearing Kick it Out t-shirts during the warm-up.
This promotional activity builds on the club's commitment to combat racism and bring together groups of people through their love of the game. Back in 2005 Notts County became the first Football League club to achieve the Racial Equality Standard at preliminary level. There is no room for complacency however, and the club are striving to achieve the intermediate status by September 2008.
The Supporters Trust shares this commitment and have recently secured a Community Chest Grant to help produce an educational football comic which will be used in local schools to highlight issues of racism, diversity and inclusion.
The Supporters Trust Chair, Stuart Rolley commented: "We recognise the unique power that football has to unite power and change lives, and for this reason we are pleased to continue to support the excellent work of Kick it Out."
He continued: "We remain committed to actively work with the club to eliminate all kinds of hatred and intolerance against all sectors of our community. Notts County has a long entrenched ethos as a welcoming and family-friendly club and it is important that we ensure that this inclusive, community spirit permeates how the club is run."
