Notts County Supporters Trust
Statement
12/03/09
For Immediate Release

Glenn Rolley, Chair of the Notts County Supporters Trust, today issued the following statement in response to recent speculation surrounding the Trust and Notts County FC.

"First of all I would like to apologise for the uncertainty that has been created partly by our not passing comment since our much publicised board meeting last Thursday (5 March). I do understand that this has created something of a void that has been filled by speculation.

"I would like to explain why we have not responded to each and every story, statement and piece of comment:

"Since the statement issued with Supporters Direct on early Friday morning (6 March), we have been taking advice and counsel from both our governing body, Supporters Direct, and our legal advisers Cobbetts. This is because, as we have all along, we have been at pains to ensure that these difficult issues are dealt with in the right and proper way for the sake of all concerned. To discuss too much too soon would have been unfair to all concerned, and could have prejudiced the fair resolution of the issues.

"However we are pleased to tell all members and supporters that we will shortly be in a position to inform them of the outcome of these discussions.

"In the meantime I feel it's important to remind every party with an interest in these matters that in line with our rules, only the Chair, Vice Chair and PR Officer Margaret Cobb, and any other officers as permitted, are authorised to speak publicly on behalf of the organisation. The only person in recent weeks who has been permitted to issue statements on behalf of the Trust has been John Collin in his role as Secretary.

"I would like to thank all members & supporters for their patience in these matters."

Glenn Rolley
Chair
Notts County Supporters Trust

Perhaps someone could clarify for me:

1) Who took the decision to bring in the legal advisers?

2) Who is financing the legal advice? And if the Trust is funding it, how much is it costing?

Thanks.

Martin.

Martin,
These matters are within the remit of the Trust Secretary. I suggest that you contact him directly at secretary@nottscotrust.org.uk

I'm absolutely sick and tired of the situation with the infighting amongst the trust and the club chairman and his hangers on.

If something is not done soon and statements made to the supporters and trust members I will be calling for a boycott of the club at the next home game on Notts County MAD.

You are all an absolute disgrace to this proud club.

To quote Glenn Rolley,

“It is now crucial that we all - regardless of our individual position on any issue - act with dignity and with consideration as to how our actions might seen by others, both in the Trust, across the Club and in the wider country.”

Just out of interest how does the club Chairmans action on Saturday when he made an obscene gesture towards Notts fans from the Directors box fit in with "act with dignity"? In case anybody doubts this I have three written statements from supporters that saw this.

No doubt this message will be censored like anything else remotely resembling criticism of the current Trust board. Please however, be under no illusions that when this whole sorry mess comes to its inevitable conclusion we the supporters and the Trust membership will remember those responsible for the destruction of the Trust and the club.

The censoring of MAD is just one more shameful act in this whole sorry saga.
