Quite worrying on the MAD Messageboard news about Gudjon going. see belwo:
Thordarson leaves Notts County

Gudjon Thordarson has quit as manager of Notts County, reports NFS.

"There are many reasons for this decision.

"I took this decision after a meeting with the Notts County board of directors. I just felt we should go our separate ways," Thordarson told NFS.

Thordarson hasn´t decided whether he'll return to Iceland yet but re-iterated that he is not quitting football.

"I wanted to take the club forward but there were so many wrong decisions taken by the board. Like yesterday for example, when the club decided to close the youth academy.

"One thing leads to another and you suddenly realise that the club is going nowhere. I felt it would not satisfy my ambition staying at the club," Thordarson told NFS.

If this was true would have thought an official announcement would have been made.

Jurgen,
A statement from the Trust Board will be issued later today. If you have any specific questions please send them in, as we always ask members to do.

Just annoyed news leaked out via a fans messageboad and then made official by BBC Nottingham before anything announced by the Club or Trust, as shareholders I'd have thought that we should be the first to know, no doubt his replacement will be notified on the same website before being confirmed by Notts as happened when Gary Mills was appiointed .

That is the problem with leaks Jurgen. It's very frustrating.

The Club did make an intial statement within a couple of hours of the event. It's right that the Club and Trust statements are considered and accurate.

What a sickener! League status saved and we were promised the financial straits were now eased and our manager could sign his own squad. On to the sunny uplands - and maybe a play-off place. Then, a new chairman whose first quotes hint at divisions on the board. Next our youth academy is closed - a retrograde step that could have been averted with some effort. Now our manager has gone. I have been going to Meadow Lane since 1944, have supported Lifeline since its inception, joined and helped the Trust raise funds. Now this Magpie has never felt so fed up. We have about a third of the club shares. Can't we do anything to stop this new rot that has set in?

Hi Don.

I do understand how you feel. Two major things have come together (I have no reason to believe they are directly related) and it has made fans feel pretty miserable and depressed. It seems that each time we make progress, there is an immediate setback which overshadows any progress the Club has made.

In terms of what we can do. Well, I don't personally think there is a "rot" at the Club. I'm prepared to be slated for saying that but I believe the moves to put some strong governance at the heart of the Club and the work that has gone on to stabilise the finances will pay dividends next season. We will have a player budget in the top four of the Division according to the Club and now we will have a new manager and players to go for a realistic push on promotion. If I'm wrong about this, I'll stand up and admit it and take the consequences.

The Club must act fast to get the new manager in and it must be the right person. Fortunately, most player contracts with other Clubs don't end until the end of June so there is still time to get a chance of some of the best players.

One thing we can all do is to take a deep breath and try not to create an impression of a "Club in crisis" with people fighting each other all the time.(I'm not accusing you of this Don). That won't help attract the Manager we want or the players we ant to the Club.

We also need to improve the communications with fans and get some positives so we can all feel good about being Notts fans.

Things may look a bit grim but I personally don't think they are as quite as bad as they may seem. And no, I'm not being complacent or patronising. We all want the best for Notts. That's why it hurts at the moment. We can and will move forward from this bad couple of days.

Hope this is useful Don.

Cheers

Keri

How Can you say this. For some wierd reason we consented to our manager leaving when only have 6/7 contracted players for next season? How can the club justify this? It's appauling! The excuses are already in place for another season of misery!
THREE WEEKS TO FIND A MANAGER IS ABSURD WE NEED ONE NOW!!!!!
And It's can't be an unproven one as we need someone with contacts to sign at least 14 Players

Wasn't there some report that GT was at Meadow Lane helping to sign players for the new season?

I've got Idea if we are using ex managers to sign players why don't we get Jimmy Sirrel,Neil Warnock and Sam Allardyce to join him.
