JAH, Eric. Nigel and myself were all on the Trust board when the decision was taken to close the CofE. I don't remember any dissenting voices at the time.

ETA - It wasn't a decision that was taken lightly or without much regret, it was thought to be the best way forward for the club.

I'm not sure that Cheryl was on the Trust Board at the time.

The announcement of the closure was in May 2006 I believe.

From the minutes of Meeting 054 on the 8th May 2006. The Board members at the time were:
Keri Usherwood , Nigel King , John Collin , Steve Thompson , Cheryl Thompson, Stuart Rolley, Glenn Rolley, Alan Scott, Carole Stapleton, Ken Carter, Martin Naylor, John Armstrong-Holmes, Gareth Marklew, Dave Rimmer , Eric Kerry

That is definitely incorrect as I was at the meeting and remember it well and the expected flak that was to be expected when announced.

Nigel,

Was the decision to close the CofE taken by the Club Board or the Trust Board? My understanding of the different responsibilities is that it would be a Club Board decision. Wasn't the Trust a minority shareholder at the time.

Would you confirm the date of the meeting when the Trust Board were notified of and presumably accepted the decision to close the CofE, which Board members were present and which sent apologies.

I've checked the minutes for meetings around May 2006 and can find no mention. I'm wondering if those discussions are not recorded in the published minutes - though I struggle to understand why the decision taken was not.

Many Thanks,

Simon

I was on the Trust Board at the time and it was a Club Board decision and the Trust ratified it, as like you say it would have made no difference to the outcome to the decision, as being the minority shareholder at that time it was decided to support the club board, it was all down to the football league being unable to guarantee the money to back it.

Jürgen and Simon you are correct. The decision was taken by the Club board and Trust board were asked to support the Supporter Director and the Club board, which the Trust Board did.

To my knowledge with one exception (the appointment of a particular Manager) the Trust board has always backed its Supporter Directors, the Club Board and the Club Chairman in their decisions.

This was at Meeting 52 ( http://www.nottscotrust.org.uk...dmeeting052-open.pdf ) in section 6 which is not included in the Open Minutes published at the time. The Trust at the time had a shareholding of 30.2%.

Everyone apart from Eric who appeared to have a rather serious memory lapse at the SGM. Perhaps he would care to apologise?

I agree with Cher, Eric Kerry blasted the decision to close the COE at the SGM and he was there to vote for the closure along with the Club Board. I'm not a CAN member but they have nothing to apologise for it was all down to lack of information from the Trust and gagging orders also put in place so information could not be released. CAN as far as I can see are just trying to get the facts out.

that your opinion like my opinion is they should say sorry to us fans that didn't agree with them.

going back to eric kelly things, it's been made clear that the trust board didn't have much say about the closing the COE so it didn't matter if he agree or not, i put my money on him saying yes to be united together but it doen't mean he agree with it, i think closing the COE was the biggest mistake NOTTS COUNTY FC done since forming, if we didn't so many poor chairmans (like Steve Thompson & the rest of the no hopers) sinse we come out of administration we wouldn't be in this mess now!!

Eric Kerry very clearly inferred at the SGM that he had no idea who agreed to the closure of the CoE.

That was misleading to trust members and he should clarify his statement....

i really think you need to step back & leave it alone cherl do you really want this infighting to carry on & do more damage to the club name!

It was your choice to resign just forget about it and be just a supporter like me. Lets hope we can be a normal club again.

Whilst I'm a member of the trust, I will ask whatever questions I would like answering on here thanks Notts Co...

I consider members were misled and a clarification should be issued.

Which board member are you then?
