Dear Trust Board,

I notice that Nigel King is no longer listed as one of the current Trust Board (follow the 'About' link).

I am sorry to learn that Nigel isn't on the Board as he has been involved on the Trust Board since its very inception, and has also been very supportive of other supporter trusts as well as being an active member of EMT.

Is this a recent development his standing down? On a more pointed note, was the Trust Board planning to inform its members at any time that the Vice Chair is no longer on the Board?

How about some warm platitutes and thanks to Nigel for all his hard work? You were strangely silent when other Board members left earlier in the season. I for one would like to like to pay tribute to Nigel for the huge amount of energy he has put into helping to build NCST.

Or perhaps I am barking up the wrong tree and the website is simply wrong.

David,

Just prior to the recent takeover announcement, Nigel decided it was time for him to stand down. We planned to announce members of Nigel’s decision at the same time as introducing newly co-opted members to the Trust Board. We have been in discussions with a number of people over the last few months.

In light of the takeover news, the Trust Board felt this was not the right time to make the announcement. Members may have then got the wrong impression that he had resigned due the news. This was not the reason. Nigel was happy to leave it to the Trust Board when the announcement was made

Nigel indicated last summer that he was thinking of not continuing to be a member of the Trust Board. When I became Chairman, I asked him to stay with me for a few months to implement a new Trust Board internal communication platform which he had developed. He agreed to do this. Then early this year the Trust Board faced some difficulties to which are well documented, resulting in the recent SGM. Nigel decided he wanted to see this through and continued in his role.

In Nigel the Notts County Supporters Trust have had the benefit of a unique member on their Trust Board.

Whatever side you sat upon recently, this should not prevent you from admiring the man who has done so much for your Trust and your Club.

I call upon ALL members to stand and applaud a loyal, steadfast man and a great loss to our Trust.

In my time as Chairman Nigel has been more than a right hand man, he’s been my rock; he’s been an absolute star!

He has suffered tremendous pressure and unnecessary abuse, both verbally and on public message boards. This in pursuit of his love of Notts County and what he believed was the right thing to do. This was ‘out of order’ and I ask all Notts County Supporters to acknowledge that in their own way.

Yes Nigel must be so proud of a Trust Board that uses semantics to prevent repayment of a loan from our greatest benefactor.

Your treatment of Haydns memory is shocking and you should all be deeply ashamed.

A full and public apology would be a start.

Stuart having read a number of your posts on hear all you appear to do is whinge and moan at everything just because you have not got your way. Is it nottime you grew up up, stopped sulking like a big baby ?

Clearly you have failed to grow up as you are still trying to stir up trouble.

Stuart,

I for one think Hadyn will be delighted at the take over. He was a life long supporter, he loved the club.

Everybody associated with Notts County will never forget the great debt, indeed unrepayable debt, perhaps the greatest debt we as fans will ever owe one man.

We will always, always cherish his memory.

HE WANTED THE CLUB TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

THIS TAKEOVER ALLOWS FOR THIS

AND FOR THIS REASON, I AM CONVINCED HE WILL BE DELIGHTED AND IN FAVOUR.

Magpie 64 I have NO idea whether Haydn would have approved of the takeover or not. I do, however, accept the view of his family who have publically stated that they have no idea whether he would have approved.

What I do know is that at the time of the Trust becoming majority shareholders

The Trust Board were sure that the money made available by Haydn was a loan.

The Trust Chair was sure - many public pronouncements on the issue.

The Trust Treasurer was sure - he stated that in the audited accounts for 2008.

The Trust finacil auditors were sure - they signed off the accounts.

But finally and most importantly Haydn was sure. - I have a scanned letter signed by Haydn that makes it absolutely clear that he considered the money to be a loan.

So despite putting in in excess of £3 million pounds to save the club without wanting or accepting any gratititude during his lifetime, the Club Board and the Trust Board take the first opportunity to refuse to pay him his loan back.

Knowing the people involved I am not suprised by this callous and opportunistic moral outrage but it does show that we have very quickly forgotten what Haydn did for us.

So despite your impassioned declaration that we would never forget what Haydn did for us, the Club Board and the Trust Board have already!

Can you say with complete certainty that once the takeover gores through Munto or the new owners may or may not reinburse the Green family?

No can you?

And why

Munto pay trust for shares
Trust pays back loan to Green Estate
Green Estate do whatever they will with money

Why is that harder than The Club and Trust Boards lying about whether they were loans?

I hope you ask the question on Wednesday and post the answer as I won't be there.

Whatever the answer is Stuart it would not have made me change my mind from voting Yes.

This is the only hope we have for this club. I have seen nothing like it in 45 years and I don't expect to see anything like it again in my lifetime.

Perhaps who ever wrote up the accounts could not think of the word to describe what happened and ended up using the word loan. Never thinking it may cause a storm............

Frankly, I don't give a damn.

I just want to enjoy supporting Notts knowing they have money in the bank for the first time in my life.
