I believe the Meadow Club has recently closed its doors. While I'm aware that it belongs to Pavis, wouldn't it make an ideal 'base' for the Supporters Trust going forward?

I believe the Trust needs a 'focal point' where members can congregate, get up to speed on events and where the Trust Board can rally the troops for fundraising events etc.

It has all the facilities (bar, stage/PA, capacity for meetings etc) and would attract more new members simply by being part of the ground. All it needs is a lick of paint, a big screen and Electric could even get some real ale put on! It could also continue to be hired out to raise more funds?

I've got fond memories of the Meadow Club (parties after the play-off semis and Wembley visits spring to mind) and have always thought it was a good facility that has been under utilised for the last few years. Any chance of us making it our own 'Magpies Nest' at some point in the future?

Ian,

I think you raise some interesting issues.

It is my understanding that ownership of the West Stand, and therefore the Meadow Club, is with ex-Chairman Derek Pavis. It is my personal view that the Meadow Club is/potentially could be an important source of revenue for the club through hosting social events etc and that DP would be unlikely to 'hand over' the Meadow Club to the Trust, especially at such a critical stage, with the 27th May deadline looming.

The primary aims of the Notts County Supporters Trust are as follows:

1. to strengthen the bonds between the Club and the community which it serves and to represent the interests of the community in the running of the Club;

2. to benefit present and future members of the community served by the Club by promoting encouraging and furthering the game of football as a recreational facility, sporting activity and focus for community involvement;

3. to encourage the Club to take proper account of the interests of its supporters and of the community it serves in its decisions;

4. to encourage and promote the principle of supporter representation on the board of any company owning or controlling the Club and ultimately to be the vehicle for democratic elections to the board;

Given the club's current predicament, the Trust's short-term objective therefore is to ensure that the supporters' interests are represented in the takeover process, and to this end, members of the interim board have been involved in negotiations with the administrator, Paul Finnity.

With regards the issue about the Trust having a focal point, the interim board are planning a Q&A session in the near future, when members will have the opportunity to ask questions. Furthermore, this message board provides an important forum for debate.

I would also like to point out that trust representatives will also be in the club shop from 2pm (and after the game) on Saturday 3rd May for the visit of Cheltenham Town. Perhaps we will see you there?

Hi guys. I can understand your concern for the Meadow club. Unfortunately the premises are still under lease to colin and dave. They were due to sell the lease to notts if notts got the loan. it didnt happen so colin kept waiting and now he has had enough. I dont think anything will happen now until the mew owners are in place. Just a question of wait and see.
