Hello there,

Rule 41(i) of the Trust's Rules makes provision for the Trust to ask members for identification upon entry to an AGM or SGM.

Please can you state whether this rule will be implemented at the SGM instigated by the members' requisition, and if so, what forms of ID will be deemed acceptable?

Thanks

Martin.

I am in contact with Supporters Direct, to agree and organise the details of
the meeting.

I feel sure that SD will recommend some form of identity checking. In any
event, details will be circulated to all members.

I guess that the following would be acceptable (not exhaustive at all at the
moment).

Trust Membership Card
Driving Licence
Passport
Utility bill
Other photographic ID

When attending Trust Meetings in the past my wife & I have always been requested to show our Trust Membership Cards, personally speaking I think that this is the best way forward, No Card = No Admission to the S.G.M in my book.

After all every member has a Membership Card.

Every Thing Forward & Trust in The Lord.

I dont have a membership card - I rejoined earlier this year and have been sent nothing.

I'm sure this is the case for alot of newer members.

And in the interest of democracy then I dont think you should be penalised for losing your card and therefore not being able to gain entry.

Every member having a membership card assumes you have a capable secretary, not one who takes over a year to publish the minutes of meetings.

Maybe a secret codeword could be circulated amongst the membership, something easy to remember, like 'crony', for example. Then you could simply approach whoever is manning the front desk and whisper 'crony' in his ear. That could also be an opportunity to prevent undesirable people who might vote the wrong way from getting in. Simply tell them (those on the list) the wrong word, 'transparency' being a possible suggestion.
